Developers now have a space for collectively learning the Bitcoin protocol in Spanish. In our drive to offer the best study programs on this technology for talent in Latin America and Spain, Librería de Satoshi is bringing a new advanced course aimed at developers.

Learning Bitcoin from the Command Line (LBCL), or Aprendiendo Bitcoin desde la Línea de Comandos, joins our lineup of courses, workshops and seminars. This innovative online course is designed so that participants acquire the tools that will let them tap into the potential of programming with Bitcoin.

The first edition of LBCL kicked off in October 2023, with two sessions per week and schedules conveniently set so people can join from anywhere in the world. Ready to be part of this exciting journey?

Learning Bitcoin from the command line

LBCL is a study group led by highly trained instructors. This program is perfect for developers and people who are comfortable with the command-line terminal (CLI).

Over roughly 30 hours (about 7 weeks), you will have the opportunity to navigate the fundamental aspects of the Bitcoin protocol, the most decentralized and free one in existence. The course includes a GitHub repository packed with hands-on exercises and examples to reinforce your learning.

The LBCL curriculum ranges from setting up Bitcoin Core and using Bitcoin’s command-line interface (bitcoin-cli), to creating transaction scripts, improving privacy with tools such as Tor and i2p, and programming interactions with the network. In essence, you will get all the tools to customize your node and start writing your own bitcoin scripts.

Our instructors

In this first edition of LBCL, our Education Leads FoxtrotZulu and José Dorrego (Josei), both from Argentina, and the Spaniards LazySatoshi, Iván Fuentes Sánchez (Ifuensan) and AirtorJS will be the facilitators. All of them have trained in Bitcoin programs from Librería de Satoshi or internationally recognized ones, such as those from Chaincode Labs.

Josei highlighted the importance of learning Bitcoin from the command line: “The command line is a powerful tool for accessing Bitcoin’s advanced features and customizing your experience with the network. This course is perfect for those who want to get trained and build a career centered on Bitcoin technology.”

What you will learn in LBCL

This comprehensive learning program covers the following topics:

1. Introduction to Programming with Bitcoin: Learn about Bitcoin’s architecture and create your own Bitcoin Core virtual private server.

2. Mastering Bitcoin-CLI: Set up the Bitcoin Core client, create and manage wallets, and make basic and advanced transactions.

3. Unlocking the Potential of Bitcoin Scripting: Master the fundamentals of scripting in Bitcoin and create scripts for various types of transactions, including conditional and complex ones.

4. Privacy and Security: Discover how to use Tor with Bitcoin, and set up hidden services and SSH to keep your transactions secure and private.

Accessible to everyone

Tuition for the course was set at a symbolic fee of just $30 USD. So that nobody misses out, the amount will be fully refunded if you finish the training with 100% of the assignments completed and at least 70% attendance. This makes LBCL an incredibly affordable educational opportunity.

Dulce Villarreal, founder of Librería de Satoshi, said: “Librería de Satoshi strives to make high-quality technical Bitcoin education accessible in our language. Learning Bitcoin from the Command Line is an excellent way to contribute to building a pipeline of Bitcoin Core developers in Latin America.”
